Additional relationship types in Orbit connect
Relationship types within a Customer Data Platform (CDP) are crucial for defining how different data sets relate to each other. They enable the CDP to create a holistic view of each customer, connecting data points and customer attributes and behaviours to form a unified customer profile.
Relationships are defined by selecting common fields in the related data tables. The relationship types define how the data in those tables are joined. Orbit connect now supports One-to-One and Many-to-One relationships, in addition to the existing One-to-Many. These options enable you to use a ‘lookup-style’ data join, which allows you to bring additional columns of data into your system by matching to a value in the parent table. These new relationship types provide simple and efficient methods to enrich your data by linking related tables based on common fields.
What does this mean for you?
- Increased flexibility with streamlined system setup and maintenance
- Simplify data enrichment using a single matching code to quickly append data
- Avoid storing duplicate information in the primary table to reduce data redundancy
- Create more comprehensive datasets for better customer segmentation and analysis
Dashboard technology elevation
In April, we elevated our dashboard technology to enhance your experience when using dashboards, with a cleaner, simplified, more intuitive editing panel and an improved user filtering mechanism with a new moveable selection menu, that ultimately enables more confident and effective use of dashboards.
The editing panel is now clearly organised providing quicker access to relevant tools, and the new floating selection menu is moveable, to avoid overlapping underlying information. This new technology also simplifies on boarding and training, as the design is now consistent across the areas within Orbit – so that what you learn in one area, will apply seamlessly to another.
What does this mean for you?
- Tabs, tiles, visualisations, and filters all remain the same
- The new floating selection menu is moveable, so can be repositioned to avoid overlapping crucial information
- The new selection menu also allows you to quickly deselect categories or cells
- A refined tile editor with expandable menus to help you navigate through content and a drop-down menu to select tile type
More combined power: Pattern match and Category grouping
In this release, we have combined the two most powerful on-the-fly-aggregation techniques. Category Grouping allows for transactions to be grouped by a selector variable. Now, we've taken this a step further, and use this list as the input to the pattern match algorithm. This is particularly useful when you're trying to understand the bigger picture in how your customers behave and allows you to find trends and sequences in how groups of customer activities change over time.
What does this mean for you?
- Identify product affinities and see which products are frequently bought together in a sequence
- Understand customer journeys by analysing the typical path customers take in their purchases
- Spot emerging trends and detect shifts in buying behaviour over time
- Create smarter segments and build audiences based on their purchase patterns
Pinpoint key areas with statistically strong insights in penetration mapping
Penetration mapping provides valuable insight by allowing you to compare two different customer groups in different locations represented on a map. It shows you where each group is more prominent than the other.
Now, we've made this even smarter. You can now refine your analysis and focus on only the differences that are statistically meaningful (based on their z-score), helping you pinpoint truly significant variations in where your customer groups are concentrated, making it easier to spot key areas to target your marketing efforts.
What does this mean for you?
- Decide whether or not to display only statistically significant categories when applying shading to help you focus on real trends
- Apply Z-score thematic shading to the map so you can immediately visualise areas where the difference in penetration is statistically significant, not just due to random variation
- Knowing which geographic areas show a statistically significant over-representation of your target audience allows you to confidently identify and prioritise these locations
- You won't be misled by minor fluctuations in audience distribution that aren't statistically significant. This helps you avoid investing time and money in areas that don't offer a real advantage
Enhanced dashboard customisation and usability
Building on the enhanced usability benefits from elevated dashboards we have also added the option for dashboard editors to selectively hide dashboard filters and the quick search filter on a per-dashboard basis. This new option enhances customisation, allowing creators to tailor the user experience by removing unnecessary elements and streamlining the view for specific audiences and needs.
When you add filters to your dashboard, 'Reset all' now displays alongside the 'Filters' button, allowing you to reset all filters in a single click, and we've relocated the side panel 'Swap sides' button. Previously, this could be mistaken for a close button, so it's now more intuitively placed midway down the side panel, with an updated icon more accurately representative of the swap sides action.
What does this mean for you?
- More granular control, allowing users to tailor their dashboard experience
- Easy toggle on/off controls in the dashboard editor interface, make the new functionality simple to use
- Gives the dashboard viewer a cleaner, more focused dashboard to view when filters aren't needed
- New ‘Reset all' command saves time by allowing you to reset all filters in a single click
- Swap sides button is more intuitively placed to avoid confusion
