Improved mapping capabilities in FastStats

The major enhancement to FastStats mapping capabilities in Q4 is the development of the new Territories wizard (previously used with Microsoft MapPoint).

This functionality has been redesigned in order to work seamlessly with Microsoft Bing Maps. Now you can more easily generate map visualisations that are thematically shaded, according to your selected metric, for example the number of people. Critically the types of variables you can use now extends beyond the typical options of Postal Sector, District and Area to include, political or health region boundaries and even custom territories.

  • The new Territories wizard gives you multiple ways of creating virtual variables that are associated with map shape files which can be used to create the visualisations
  • The Territories wizard makes setting up shape files even simpler

Other mapping improvements include:

  • In the Drive zone wizard, the select latitude/longitude step has a new checkbox which allows you to use the resultant virtual variable to create thematic maps of drive zones around a specified location
  • And in the Map tool, the default algorithm for generating drive time selections is now Bing Driving (Isochrone API)

Improved totals and sorting of dashboard cubes in Orbit

Dashboard users creating cube tiles will notice the addition of the new totals which have been added in the Q4 2022 release for 2D cubes. If the 'category display' feature is being used this new enhancement automatically recalculates the rows, where appropriate. The category display feature allows the user to limit their selection to the 'Top 5' products or regions for example.

  • Totals will automatically be updated should the user choose to add or remove rows, without any delays
  • The columns in the cube can now also be sorted using the ellipses. When using the category display feature, this new sorting functionality allows the user to only sort by the numbers on display

Diverse features
This release extends the functionality for visualising and identifying a diverse set of predictive features for use in a data model and includes:

  • Negative Niche Features: Features which apply to some customers but give a strong indication of being a poor prospect
  • Insight and Non-insight Categories: Non-insight categories are if the Z-score is non-significant or if the PWE score is too small
  • Insight PWE: Supersedes Uplift PWE and provides a measure of the predictive strength of a dimension where a sizeable and significant prediction can be made
  • Insight Coverage: Provides an indication of the number of people for whom a dimension can give a significant and sizable prediction
  • Insight Type: All features are now assigned an insight type based on the nature of the insight they provide

Dimensions list
You can now view Insight Type, Insight Coverage, and Insight PWE as columns in the Dimensions list and sort dimensions based on whether they are selected. This is helpful for aligning the cells which automatically follow the same sort order.

Advanced selection functionality in Apteco Orbit dashboards and audiences

Conveniently you can now type or paste import values to match text variables or use URNs / key reference numbers for selection or exclusion in your Orbit dashboards and audiences.

Simply type or paste up to one hundred import values or import a file to match text variables for selection or exclusion, or use URNs / reference keys to select or suppress specific individual records. These reference keys can be entered individually, copied and pasted, or loaded from a file

Text files can be uploaded directly from your computer, and should contain a list of text values / URNs to include or exclude records in audiences or dashboard filters

You could use this functionality to upload a list of postcodes to define a sales territory for example
